CHO-FOIL®and CHO-FAB™
EMI Shielding Foil and Fabric Tape with Conductive Adhesive
Parker Chomerics CHO-FOIL® metal foil tapes provide an economical solution to applications requiring excellent electrical conductivity across substrates. These foil tapes can provide a low impedance connection between a braided cable shield and the metal connector backshell in molded cables. Due to the highly conductive pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive (PSA), the tape can provide an effective shielded cable assembly without the need for soldering the tape to the braid. The uniform dispersion of unique, oxidation-resistant conductive particles in the acrylic PSA produce a very low resistance through the tape. Thus, wrapping a cable assembly with the foil tape, using a slight overlap, can provide an effective prototype cable shielding system. Seams of EMI shielded rooms and other shielded test enclosure setups are more easily sealed with CHO-FOIL tape so as to provide electrical continuity and thus higher shielding effectiveness. Double-sided conductive adhesive is available to ensure leak free seams. The use of CHO-FOIL tape can ensure good electrically conductive mating flanges and corrosion resistant grounding areas. For applications requiring lighter weight and a more flexible electrically conductive tape, the electrically conductive fabric tape, CHO-FABTM, will provide excellent shielding and good corrosion resistant performance. In the case of shielded cables, CHO-FAB is very conformable, strong, lightweight, and doesn’t have sharp edges that are present on metal foil tapes.
Engineered Laminates
Parker Chomerics Engineered Laminates are custom products that combine electrically conductive materials with dielectric insulators to provide EMI shielding, ground paths, and electrical isolation. Engineered laminates are fully customisable and created to match the specific shielding features of your parts. They are an ideal solution for quick fixes in prototyping applications and can be easily implemented in full scale production runs.
CHO-MASK® II
Conductive Foil Tape with Peel-Off Mask for Cabinet Painting Operations
The CHO-MASK® II family of EMI foil tapes includes both Standard Tack (ST) and High Tack (HT) versions for providing a conductive, non-corroding surface on painted metal electronic enclosures. CHO-MASK II tapes consist of recessed polyester paint masking film covering a layer of either 1 oz. (28.4g) or 2 oz. (56.7g) tin-plated copper foil. The back of the foil features a conductive pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA). CHO-MASK II tape is applied to clean metal frame, door and panel surfaces where electrical continuity is required. After painting, the peel-off mask is easily removed, allowing the paint to seal both edges of the foil layer. The foil imparts a clean, electrically conductive path from the panel, through an EMI gasket, to the cabinet frame. It also provides grounding points within the enclosure.
CHO-STRAP®
Electrically Insulated Grounding Straps
CHO-STRAP® grounding straps are flexible, double-insulated laminates of copper (inside) and polyester film (outside), with punched and tinned ends to facilitate termination. They provide low-impedance ground paths, thereby reducing radiated EMI problems caused by ordinary wire grounds. They are generally more cost-effective than braided ground straps.
Copper Tape Handle Cover
Shieldex® Copper Tape
The Shieldex® copper tape is self-adhesive and ready-to-use to be applied flexibly on any gripping surface, e.g. door or window handles. Especially in highly frequented areas where clean hand surfaces are required, Shieldex® copper tape renders viruses harmless within a short period of time, thus effectively reducing the risk of transference. In times of SARS-CoV-2, Shieldex® copper tape actively contributes to the containment of the virus and increases security within companies, public facilities and in your home.
International studies have repeatedly proven that copper has antiviral, antibacterial and fungicidal properties, shortening the half-life of viruses, bacteria and fungi¹. EA study carried out on behalf of the US authorities has shown that copper also inactivates the SARS-CoV-2 virus in a very short time². Because of its positive properties, hospitals use door handles made of solid copper³. The latest laboratory results also independently confirm the effectiveness of Shieldex® Copper-Tape. The Eurovir® hygiene laboratory was able to prove that TGEV corona viruses on the tape are 99.98% inactivated after only 60 minutes⁴. The renowned Hohenstein Institute also confirms the significant viricidal and strong antibacterial effectiveness of our copper textiles⁵.
